Actually, a methodology chapter contains technical details on how you gathered data. if you will simply write a paper based on observation, then there is no need for a methods chapter.

the main point of this section is to give an idea- what would be the materials or methods that you being use to perform some researched.

Being lazy is not an issue as every one think of quick and easy way of getting things nowdays! As you see the washing machine for instance is an act of laziness as well!
